I'm not generally a fan of angst. I read to escape and I prefer happier rides. I'm also fairly picky about second chance stories. This book had lots and lots of the first, was built on the premise of the second and had an off-page antagonist I really struggled with.When finished, however, I'm glad I took the chance. Forgiveness is the big theme for this book, on myriad levels. Despite my yearning to escape, I was glad to have read Book 2.It stands alone quite well, with no need to read others in the series to appreciate it. It was a beautiful story that will apply to many hearts.Much like the first, it was a clean romance with Faith sprinkled over it. It's not a Jessie Gussman, but it's a lesson in forgiveness that anyone can glean. There are Scripture references that apply to their place in this story and could plant a seed in the heart of a reader.Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised to give this 5 stars.-ncv
